The Ezulwini "Valley of Heaven" is home to extensive informal markets and is the starting point for this excursion. Travelling southwards down the length of the Mdzimba Mountains the tour passes the King Sobhuza II Memorial Park, Houses of Parliament, National Church, National Stadium, National Museum, Lozitha Palace (home to His Majesty King Mswati III), the University of Swaziland and Matsapha, the industrial hub of the country.
In the City of Manzini, the tour stops for exploration of the main Manzini market. Further on the Malkerns area, with its pineapple fields and sugar cane is the backdrop to the art and craft attractions of House-on-Fire (off-the-wall sculpture), Gone Rural (woven grass-ware), Baobab Batik (cloth-based designs) and Zoggs (funky local art). Thereafter, Lobamba, the traditional and political heart of Swaziland, is the focal point of a description of the history and development of the Swazi Nation. Then on to the Mantenga Nature Reserve. Hidden deep in this valley, at the foot of the 30-metre high Mantenga Waterfall is the Swazi Cultural Village. This 19th century replica of an extended Swazi homestead offers a guided tour and viewing of traditional dancing. Then with drumbeats still echoing in your ears, the tour makes a final stop in the peaceful surroundings of Mantenga Craft Centre.

This is a half-day face-to-face insight into Swazi lifestyle and culture. This is an unusual tour in that it is totally unstructured. Where you go and what you do is entirely up to you and your guide to decide. So if you've scanned our tours and they don't suite your specific interests, book a Taste of Swaziland excursion and you and your personal driver-guide can decide where and what to do. Our guides are resourceful and enthusiastic and love doing something a little different, so if you want to go bathing in a hot spring, tracking down a relative in a long-forgotten cemetery or simply exploring photographic opportunities off-the-beaten track, we'll try our best to give you what you want
